In very hot weather like 40°C, skincare should be kept minimal, lightweight, and non-comedogenic to prevent sweat, oil buildup, and clogged pores.
Start with a gentle cleanser in the morning and evening. In the morning, rinsing with water may be enough if your skin is not very oily, but in the evening you should properly cleanse to remove sunscreen, sweat, and dirt.
Focus on one light hydrating step instead of multiple layers. A gel-based moisturizer or a simple hydrating serum is enough. Heavy creams are usually too occlusive for daytime heat and can increase breakouts.
Sunscreen is essential every morning, but choose a lightweight, oil-free, gel or fluid formula. When reapplying, it’s better to blot away sweat first rather than layering sunscreen over a greasy or sweaty base.
Active ingredients like niacinamide can help control oil and reduce breakouts, while salicylic acid can help keep pores clear. These should be used sparingly and not layered excessively in hot weather.
Avoid heavy oils, thick creams, and over-layering products, as well as reapplying sunscreen without cleaning or blotting the skin first, since these often trigger breakouts in extreme heat.
A simple routine works best: cleanse, hydrate lightly, and apply sunscreen in the morning; then cleanse, treat, and lightly moisturize at night.
